Rare Earth Market Update – March 7, 2025

Rare earth market update on March 7, 2025

This week, domestic rare earth price in China displayed a mixed pattern of gains and losses. With traders showing moderate enthusiasm for market operations, a strong wait-and-see sentiment prevailed, resulting in limited new orders. On the supply side, as the Spring Festival holiday has been over for some time, rare earth manufacturers have largely resumed normal production. Consequently, the spot supply of certain products like praseodymium-neodymium raw materials is relatively abundant, while cerium- and terbium-based products remain in tight supply. On the demand side, influenced by the relatively high prices of rare earth raw materials and the complex, volatile global economic environment, inquiry and procurement activity from downstream and end-user customers have been lackluster.

According to Zhongwu Online, the price of praseodymium-neodymium oxide dropped by approximately 8,000 yuan per ton compared to last week, a decline of 1.78%; the price of praseodymium-neodymium metal fell by about 10,000 yuan per ton, a decrease of 1.81%; terbium oxide rose by approximately 70 yuan per kilogram, an increase of 1.08%; dysprosium oxide decreased by about 20,000 yuan per ton, a drop of 1.15%; the price of 55N neodymium-iron-boron (NdFeB) blank squares remained stable compared to last week; and the price of NdFeB waste (praseodymium-neodymium) declined by about 5 yuan per kilogram, a reduction of 1.05%.
